As the Denver senior session season wraps up, I thought it would be good to answer some frequently asked questions. I know that finishing high school is full of ups and downs but I always hope that your graduation photos are a highlight. We have so much fun and I really want to make sure your session feels like you! So as we stop time in its tracks to celebrate a huge milestone, let’s make sure that you’re confident in your photographer and the process to capture your senior photos.
Let’s dive into some FAQ about senior photo sessions! And why not throw in some gorgeous photos with one of my class of 2026 seniors? I just loved this shoot so much!

When should I book my senior session?
There are a lot of factors that go into booking your senior session. The first question I always ask my client is, do you have a due date for a yearbook photo? If so, we want to book our session at least 2 weeks before that date to make sure we have time to do the shoot, I have time to edit and deliver the photos and then you have time to narrow down your favorite and get it sent into your school. Other than that one specific deadline, here are a few more things that come into play:
- Your schedule. I know that senior year can be a bit overwhelming, make sure you give yourself time to find outfits before your session. I also want your shoot day to be stress free, so try to avoid coming from a sports game or squeezing it in after a long day.
- My availability. I can usually book a shoot within 3 weeks of reaching out to me, although sometimes I have some last minute availability so its worth a shot to ask if you’re in a hurry!
- Time of day. I like to shoot about an hour before the sunsets. This gives us gorgeous light throughout the session (you’ll see what I mean in the photos below).
- Seasons. Colorado offers some gorgeous locations for photoshoots but the seasons do change the look and feel of your photos. If you’re hoping for photos full of nature, I encourage you to book your session in summer or early fall. Once the trees start losing their leaves, some of the locations lose their luster. If you’re thinking about an urban location, season doesn’t really matter for the views, but it still matters for your outfits. These are just things to keep in mind!

What should I wear to my senior session?
This question is a big one and I’m here to help! When you book your senior session I always offer to do a planning call. We can Facetime or Zoom to get to know each other and I’ll give you all of the advice on outfits. Not all seniors are the same and I want your unique personality and style to shine through your photos. We will talk about how to make sure your outfits are timeless and offer variety while also loving what you’re wearing.
How many outfits do I get to bring to my senior shoot?
I offer 2 different lengths of sessions depending on how many outfits you want to wear. A 45 minute session is perfect for one outfit. A 90 minute session gives us time for more like 2-3 outfits! You can always bring a jacket or layer to add to an outfit to mix it up too!

Where will we do the shoot?
The Denver area has so many gorgeous locations! When you reach out to book your senior shoot I will ask you some questions to see what vibe fits you best and then give you a few options to choose from. We can do something urban (think buildings, structures, curbs, parking garages) or more natural (think mountains, fields, creeks). Once we chat about what you’re hoping for, we can decide on the perfect location for you.

Are digitals included?
YES! All senior sessions include full resolution digitals! And if you need any help with downloading, cropping and printing, just reach out. I will also include smaller digital copies of the photos for sharing on social media (my full resolution photos get compressed when you try to post them and lose alot of their quality).

Will you help me with posing?
Most of my clients admit to being awkward or stiff in front of a camera. I can promise that won’t be the case when you hang out with me! Two things you should know about me…I am bossy. Ha! Posing is 100% my job and I will walk you through it every step of the way. AND…I make people feel comfortable (I’ve been told that’s my super power). So as you head into the shoot, know that I’ve got you. Just show up to hang out with me and we will create something really cool together! I’ll also show you the back of my camera multiple times. Once you see the kinds of photos we are getting, your worries will go out the window!

Will you edit my senior photos?
This is a big loaded question. So before I just say YES or NO, let me just explain what I do. Yes, I will make artistic edits to your photos to show off the colors, location and lighting. Yes, I will remove anything that is not permanent like breakouts or bruises. No, I will not change who you are. It is so important to me that you see these photos and love them which leads to loving yourself even more. My perspective has made many of my clients realize that they pick themselves apart too much or they didn’t even realize how stunning or sharp they looked. All of that is achieved throughout the experience, not with photoshop.

What will shoot day look like?
This is a great question and knowing what the whole day will look like helps you prepare even more for your senior session! We schedule your session about an hour before sunset, so depending on the season that can be sometime in the afternoon or evening. Some of my senior clients choose to have their hair & makeup done before the shoot. I have a great team I can refer you to and I can even help you with the timeline to make that happen if you need! Then we will meet at the location for your shoot. The shoot will feel like a nice walk with good conversation. In between, I’ll be posing and bossing you around. Then right back to moving around and chatting. I love for you to be a part of the process so I will encourage you to tell me what you’re loving or what doesn’t feel like you. Also, if you have any ideas, I’m here to play! Most of my senior clients have a parent with them, I think it is so important to snap a quick photo of your entourage at the end of the shoot. What an amazing way to wrap it up and celebrate such a big moment! (I always warn parents of this in my prep email haha, I know stepping in front of a camera makes some people nervous but it is so worth it!)

Let me know if I have any other questions that I may have missed! I can’t wait to meet you and walk you through your senior shoot!
