Well hello! I feel like I have so much to explain!
If you have been following along for some time, you may know me, my business, my mission and you may have even figured out what’s going on around here.
If you are new to the Photos by Adena world, hold on tight and I’ll explain.
I started my photography business 13 years ago when I was living in Henderson, NV. I had my little sunshine, Avree Rae, on my hip and dove into learning all about my Canon Rebel. I had never entertained the thought of being a photographer when I grew up. But as I learned more about taking good photos and had people in front of my camera, I fell in love with the magic that is photography. My business morphed from shooting friends and family to meeting new people all over the Vegas valley to capture their moments and connections. I photographed families, couples, babies, weddings, seniors and then I dabbled in boudoir, where I found my calling.
Fast forward 7 years and our family made a huge move to Denver. Avree was now in 2nd grade and I had a crazy fun preschooler, Jack, running around at home. I took the year to dream about what my business would look like in our new Colorado home. I just kept coming back to…
I want to empower women.
I want to encourage women
I want show them how beautiful they are.
With a lot of dreaming, risk taking and a whole lot of hard work and support from my hubby…Blush & Tease became the exact experience that I wanted to offer women. The last 6 years has been a whirlwind of incredible clients, 2 studios, an insanely talented hair & makeup team…a total dream come true!
This year as my little sunshine was turning 14, a past Blush & Tease client came to me with a thought. “I want my daughter to feel the same way I felt after my shoot with you, would you be willing to photograph her? She’s turning 13.”
At first, I hesitated. I can’t shoot boudoir and shoot young ladies…that gets messy. But I decided to bust right through that, nothing was going to hold me back from teaching YOUNG women the same thing that I teach my Blush & Tease clients.
So I created an experience to match, carefully crafted for young ladies between the ages of 12 and 19. It is a journey for her to learn more about herself. I challenge her to learn about self love, self care & self confidence. Then she shows up for a photoshoot that is completely EPIC! The styling is carefully put together to show her unique beauty. Starting with hair and makeup at the studio and ending at the perfect location for her shoot. My mission is to create a space where she feels comfortable, beautiful, unique and confident. And then I capture HER in THAT.
After a year of learning this process with young women, I can tell you a couple of things.
The Photos by Adena experience brings these young women to life! They are just glowing by the end of it. When they see their photos, they finally get to see what the people who love them see! They get to sit in their confidence and walk out of the studio a little taller.
